Ham and Roasted Pear Crostini

I made these appetizers a couple years back and I missed making them. I am a huge fan of when sweet meets savory so this will always be something fun to eat. I added cheese to some of these crostinis to bring more of a personality out of them.

Ingredients

  • French baguette cut into about 24 slices
  • Muenster cheese
  • Breakfast ham
  • 2 Bosc pears
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • dried parsley to top it off

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Brush the French baguette slices with the extra virgin olive oil and season them with salt and pepper to your own liking. Bake for about 4-8 minutes flip halfway through until the baguettes are crisp; once you flip, you should add your cheese to some (or all) slices.

Once done, set aside and wisk together lemon juice, maple syrup and salt and pepper for the dressing. Toss pears in the dressing and arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flip pears halfway through until they are tender and golden brown about 14 minutes.

While the pears are roasting, grease a small skillet and on low heat lightly cook the ham until it gets just a bit of color to it. When done, top each crostini with the ham, the Bosc pears, and lastly the parsley.

I think this would go great with a white wine.
